Welcome

My name is Rebeccah Graham and I am running for an open seat on the King County Superior Court bench. I look forward to your support and to meeting you on the campaign trail.

I am running because I believe judges should be experienced, compassionate, and reflect the communities they serve. I have been a lawyer for almost 20 years. My entire career has been in public service. I started as a public defender, working for the indigent and underprivileged in rural Northern New Mexico, where my clients were mostly Spanish speaking or Indian. In 1990, I came to the beautiful city of Seattle and began work as a public defender in King County, Washington. While in law school, I served as a prosecuting attorney.

For the past 6 years, I have served the citizens of this county as a “pro tem” or substitute judge. I have presided over thousands of cases in King County Superior Court, where I am seeking election, in King County District Court, and in various municipal courts in the county.

I am proud of my work and reputation on the bench. The lawyers who appear before me and the judges for whom I sit, find me to be fair, hard working, compassionate, and to have an earnest desire for justice.

As an attorney, I have tried hundreds of cases from simple misdemeanors to complex felonies. As a judge, I have presided over multiple jury trials, bench trials, and hundreds of contested matters. I have handled a wide variety of matters including civil, criminal, domestic violence, and family law matters as a judge.

I am also proud of my work in the community. I believe judges should reflect and be part of the communities we serve. I am a board member on the Northwest Children’s’ Fund, an organization that grants money to non-profit agencies that help abused and neglected children, I volunteer in the Seattle Public Schools where both my children attend, I mentor minority law students, and I serve meals to homeless women.  Over many years, I have been actively engaged in issues regarding access to justice and disproportionality in the legal system.  I am ready to carry that experience to work for the people as a judge.

It is an honor to serve the community as a judge and I am honored to be endorsed by so many organizations and leaders including former Governor Mike Lowry, King County Executive Ron Sims, State Senator Ed Murray, House Speaker Frank Chopp as well as the King County Police Officer's Guild, the King County Women's Political Caucus, the Democratic Hispanic/Latino Caucus,  the Mercer Island Firefighters Local, and the King County Democrats Central Committee, 48th, 46th, 45th, 43rd, 41st, 36th, 34th, 33rd, 32nd, 31st, 30th, 11th, and 5th Democratic Legislative Districts. Please see my endorsement page for a complete list of my supporters.

I hope you will take a look at my website and learn more about my passion for justice.

Thank you for your support,

Rebeccah Graham

The cream of the crop also showed up for Position 22.

We endorsed Julia Garratt in 2004, and could have done so this year as well, but for one of her opponents, Rebeccah Graham, whose diverse background and calm demeanor would be an asset to the bench. Her passion for the law and her six years of experience as a pro tem judge make her an ideal candidate.
